Belinda scooted back against the side of the wooden box ignoring Jervis. She began to hum softly The Tale of the Black Shadow.
“What’s that yer singing Little Mate?” questioned Santos.
“It’s The Tale of the Black Shadow; it’s about a tall sailing ship that sank near my cliff in the water near Harbor Towne, Maine. I’m surprise you haven’t heard the tale; it happened back in 1765.”
“I remember that tale,” Ernesto called out. “Some mates at the tavern in Harbor Towne were talking about the whispering fog.” His dark eyes swung to Belinda. “The one ya got caught in the other night. They said The Black Shadow sunk in the waters by yer cliff years ago an’ the lot of them onboard the ship died. Now, the crew from The Black Shadow, the ones that drowned, call out ta help ships jes like us trapped in the whispering fog. We did hear some strange voices coming from the dark water…”
Lucky leaned over anxiously, his hands rubbed together in a washing motion. Ernesto shook his head no, but Lucky gave him a look. “The lass should hear the tale.”
Belinda’s eyes were on Lucky. “Lucky, what tale are you speaking about?”
“While we were in town we met an elf-like man. He stood a little over four feet.” Lucky laughed. “Even Jessie was a giant next to him. His curly dark, gray hair hid his aged face and black dotted eyes peered out from under his wild hair. I’d say the man was a hundred years or more. The man at the pub said over two hundred years.”
“Nay, Lucky, this ain’t a tale ta be told,” Ernesto interrupted.
“The lass should hear,” snapped Lucky
“I’ve seen dat man before,” Gerald said abruptly, “he’s called Ebenezer.”
“Ya know Ebenezer?” questioned Ernesto.
Gerald stood and moved over to Ernesto. “I know he ain’t a man, but a ghost.”
“Yer talking nonsense, Gerald,” Ernesto replied.
“Yay, de owner of de bar says de man appears then vanishes.”
“Of course Gerald, ya’d believe ‘em,” Santos chimed in.
Gerald nodded his head at Lucky. “`Tis true, take a gander at Lucky’s face; he knows de man ain’t real.” Gerald scrunched his wrinkled face. “De locals say Ebenezer’s an old sailor an’ his ship sank years ago.”
“I agree, the man I met was strange, but a ghost,” Lucky added, “I’m not for sure.”
“Well,” began Gerald, “Santos, y’ve seen ghost ships. `Tis where Ebenezer lives.”
Belinda moaned and stared at Santos.
Santos nodded his head yes. “Yay, I’ve seen tall sailing ships appear on the horizon, but as the strange ship approached us they’d vanish inta thin air. Nonetheless, we’ve felt their breeze an’ seen the ships wake in the water.” He paused. “I’ve heard talking an’ laughter, voices floating in the open sea as the ship seem ta pass by.”
“Then,” Ernesto snapped, “The man could’ve been Ebenezer de ghost.”
“Go ahead,” Santos interjected, “tell us what the man said.”
Lucky sat up straight and his eyes darted to Belinda. “`Tis a dark and misty night in 1764, a mysterious fog crept like a monster crossing the sea eating everything in its path. A tall sailing ship was caught in the fog’s trap. Early that evening...

Whispering Fog, a time travel, book trailer.
“The Adventure of the Aeolus”
One fall night a mystifying fog captures a young girl from the 20th century and a captain of an old sailing ship from the 18th century bringing them together.
Belinda Brady, a young girl who lives next to a soaring old lighthouse, becomes a part of an old seafaring tale, a tale of a whispering fog, a monster from the sea controlling the destiny of ill-fated ships.
On an unusual foggy night in 1959, Belinda sees an image out in the sea, a ship of years ago with soaring beige sails flapping like bird’s wings. She hears a ship’s lonely bell tolling and begins her descent into the misty vapor climbing down the steep, rocky cliff to help the ship’s crew. She loses her footing on the slick rocks falling literally into the whispering fog.
Did the story end that night for Belinda when she fell down the cliff, or was it a dream of a young girl? On foggy nights, fishermen out in the sea have heard an old ship’s bell tolling and voices whispering Belinda’s name.

Whispering Fog is a journal of a young girl named Belinda Brady that lived in the year of 1959, it tells the story of how she literally fell into the whispering fog and traveled aboard the Aeolus, a tall sailing ship in the year of 1788. How she fought pirates, attended a Christmas Ball at Drayton Hall Plantation in Charleston, SC, and traveled from Maine to St. Augustine, FL visiting ports along the way. How she became the Barrel Man, lookout for the ship climbing high up to the crow’s nest swaying with the movement of the tall ship, and the story of how she fell in love. This novel delivers the beauty of emotions of affection, sorrow, laughter, a story of tragedy, of unconditional love, not only romantically, but love of friends, an ageless tale.

Voices called my name. I couldn’t answer. My throat was chocking me. I couldn’t scream anymore. My beating heart pounded in my ears as my body plummeted through the misty air, not graceful as a seagull diving for a fish in the sea, but more as a ragdoll with arm and legs flapping wildly. Weightlessness had taken over. I couldn’t stop myself. I became frozen in fear. Total darkness was all around me until a bright…
