About Diann Questions

Picture
How or why did you decide to become a writer? I'm not sure if this is normal, but my stories come from dreams. For years I ignored them. The night did arrived when one story continued night after night. I named that story Legend of the Diaries. Stories continued and I began to write them down. It was interesting to be able to bring my characters to life.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? A couple of weeks but then the edits take a while.

What advice can you give me about writing? This may seem simple but just sit down and write, you can edit later.

How long does it take you to write a novel? When I come up with a new idea it takes me a few weeks to write the book.

Which authors have inspired you to write? I love so many authors, a couple of my favorites from the past are Edgar R Burroughs, and Agatha Christie.

Do you work from an outline? No, I just begin to write, then add an add an outline as the edits begin.

Did you always want to be an author? I’ve always had stories to tell, but wouldn’t take the time.

What is your favorite aspect of writing? Starting a new story and watching it and the characters come to life.

Your least favorite aspect of writing? The edits.

What aspect of writing would you most like to improve on? Learning to edit quicker, it takes me way too long.

What have you learned the most from being in the writing business? It’s a lot more work than I thought. It is a lonely job. It is exciting to meet new people in a new world.

How did you choose your characters names and location for your story? Most of my characters names just pop into my head as I write and the location, but a few times I’ve had to come up with some new names as the characters grown. You never know when you talk to me. I might use your name.
