My southern dreams started a long time ago, maybe even as far back to when I was five years old. Most young kids go to bed close their eyes and fall asleep, but not me. I’d close my eyes and instead of sleep my dreams would begin and then I’d fall asleep letting an entire story evolve just like watching a movie, in color so crisp and clear. The next night the dream would continue.

But not all my dreams were happy ever after. I never had a dream catcher hanging over my bed, but most of the time I was able to let the bad dreams disappear and the good dreams stay.

As I grew older the dreams continued and became more intense, but I ignored them until…

In 2004, I moved to Leander, TX and for some reason my dreams became more powerful and the dreams or stories flowed night after night. I gave in. Late one night I sat down, with a tablet and pen in my family room, and began ‘Legend of the Diaries’ (A young man, descendant of the Greek god Zeus, and an evil soulless man, search for the Tablet of the Legend, both on a mission of revenge, against each other.) The next week another dream, ‘Miranda’ (A forbidden passion prevails a lifetime between a spirited young socialite and a known gambler in the late 1800’s).

Then, ‘Whispering Fog’ a time travel romance, (A mystifying fog captures a young girl from the 20th century and an old sailing ship from the 18th century bringing them together one mystical night) and then Small Street, (When a young woman is framed for a murder of a coworker by her boss, she learns about living homeless on the streets of DC). The next dream was Disappearing (A naïve newspaper reporter, Lucia, in the year 2006 makes a fascinating discovery in her new apartment about three prominent men who mysteriously disappeared in 1953, and her curiosity puts her life in grave danger as she begins to snoop into black covert operations).

The dreams and stories continue with ‘Junto’s World’; ‘The Old House on Laurel Street’; ‘Harboring Revenge’; and then my ‘Southern Dreams’ trilogy was born.

You see that is why I call my writings and my life’s story, Southern Dreams.

Even my recipes are from my life growing up in the south, sitting in my grandmother’s small kitchen, eating fresh homegrown vegetables and fruits, cornbread, fried chicken, chicken & dumplings, vegetable soups and slow cooked roast, (recipes coming soon), making my southern dreams come true.

I hope you will join me on my journey of my Southern Dreams and see what other stories I will be dreaming.

If you have any questions please send them to “Ask Diann” and I will do my best to answer.
