God Bless America

Today is September 11, 2014 a day that brings memories fresh in our mind of what happened 13 years ago. I was living in Bonita Springs, FL and that morning changed us all. We as a nation didn’t believe this could happen to us. 9-11 took away a part of our innocence, but we won’t let them win. This was and is a stark reminder of how we should be so proud of our men & woman of the military, police and fire, now and in the past. How they’ve given so much to keep America safe.

I lived in New York City for a while in the eighties and was able to visit the World Trade Center Towers. Living in New York was very different from where I grew up in southern Arkansas, but a city so full of life. I met and became friends with some great people that welcomed my family and me into their homes for some wonderful meals and great times. We became a part of their family and shared holidays with them. I love the diverse foods of New York, Cuban, Italian, and Irish delicious authentic dishes. I haven’t been back in years, but a visit may be in my future and I hope to visit with my old friends and have some Cuban red beans and rice.

May God Bless American now and forever.
